St+art India Foundation is a movement that contributes to urban regeneration and community living through contemporary urban art projects since 2014. The foundation enhances public spaces through art districts, experiential exhibitions, installations, and more. In January 2020, St+art came to Chennai to create an art district in Kannagi Nagar, one of India’s largest slum resettlements, and the home of a former fisherfolk community who were displaced after the 2004 tsunami. 16 international and local artists participated in transforming the area by painting murals in response to the theme of 'People and Environment'.
