Classical Chinese Furniture Minneapolis Institute of Arts

Minneapolis Institute of Art

9781878529602

This volume describes and illustrates nearly one hundred examples of classical Chinese furniture donated to The Minneapolis Institute of Arts by Ruth and Bruce Dayton. Considered one of the finest public collections in the world, this catalogue includes over 150 illustrations and text that help provide the historical and social context of hardwood and lacquer furniture produced primarily during the late Ming and early Qing periods.

Catalogue entries were written by Robert Jacobsen with construction analysis and commentary provided by Nicholas Grindley. An introduction by Lark Mason and essay on the relationship between classical furniture and traditional Chinese architecture by Mr. Jacobsen, along with footnotes and bibliography complete the text.
