Georgia O’Keeffe was a pioneer in the art world during the 20th century. Her paintings gained international acclaim for their remarkably sensual sensitivity and bold use of color and abstraction. Influenced by the modernist photography technique of close cropping, she began experimenting with large-scale depictions of flowers. The resulting compositions invite viewers to look at ordinary flowers in a different way.
