Maiz Jaspe Table Runner - Blush

From Mayan Hands: Bring the depth of rich tradition and storytelling to any table setting with the artfully crafted Maiz Jaspe table runner. Handwoven on a traditional backstrap loom by our artisan partners in Sololá, Guatemala, this unique runner features an indigo maiz, or corn, motif on a pale pink background. In the jaspe (ikat) technique, threads are carefully tied and dyed, then meticulously woven to reveal a design that is often inspired by nature. This runner's maiz motif highlights the most signficant crop for the Maya people, representing the very gift of life from Mother Earth to her children. Woven from naturally dyed indigo threads and finished with hand-twisted fringe.

Mayan Hands is a nonprofit fair trade organization partnering with 17 groups of Maya women artisans in the Guatemala Highlands. Though recognized worldwide as extraordinary weavers and artisans, Maya women experience discrimination, poverty, and marginalization.
