Orange trees can grow up to 30 feet tall and bear fruit once each year, though its month of harvest depends on the fruit's variety. At the end of its season, ripe orange fruit is picked from its lucious tree. Thought its striking white blossoms create a beautiful mosaic of white petals across its branches, only a small percentage of the orange tree's blossoms actually grow fruit. Not only is this beloved citrus fruit delicious, but its trees are a masterpiece of nature.

This unique jewelry is made by creating molds directly from botanical elements in a process similar to lost-wax casting; Michael Michaud uses an actual leaf, branch, or flower in place of a traditional wax model. A mold is created around the botanical element and, as it is heated, the plant matter burns away and leaves behind a beautifully detailed mold of itself.
